| CARE
has Established Two Memorial Funds |
| |
| The
Marilyn Keeslar Memorial Fund |
| Marilyn
has been described as the “mother of parenting education” in
Macomb County. When her children were small, she went to a
parenting class and was amazed to find how little she and other
adults knew about rearing emotionally healthy children. She
decided to devote the rest of her life to teaching others what
she had learned. To that end, Marilyn coordinated and
facilitated the first Systematic Training for Effective
Parenting (STEP) classes as an employee at CARE, then known as
the Substance Abuse Information Center. Donations in her name
are used to help low income parents access parent education. |
| |
| The
Robert Garbarino Memorial Fund |
| Robert,
father of CARE’s volunteer, Jan Garbarino was a vice president
at Borman’s (Farmer Jacks). He regularly donated to children’s
programs and is described by those who knew him as having a
“soft spot for kids.” Upon his death, his family decided that a
good way to honor him was to continue the tradition that he
started – support programs that encouraged the healthy
development of our most precious resource, our children.
Donations in his name are used to support CARE’s Children’s
Programs. |
